World's largest solar power has started the plantIn Thailand.

4.01.2012

One of the world's largest solar power plant with a capacity of 73 megawatts, began its work in the central province of Lopburi in Thailand, which is 150 km north of Bangkok.

In June 2012, when all the blocks will be run power and its capacity will increase to 84 megawatts, Thailand will reduce carbon dioxide emissions by around 1.3 million tonnes and reduce fuel imports to 35.000 tons per year.

After receiving in 2010 a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the amount of U.S. $ 70 million, the governmentcompleted the construction for a record 18 months

This is the first project for which ADB has provided support for part of its plan to promote alternative energy in South-east Asia, which aims to reduce global warming.

In the coming years, priority for the Government of Thailand is an increase in the percentage of solar energy community and farmersup to 5%, which at this stage will significantly reduce electricity prices.
